Pendleton
School of Karate has been in operation since
August of 1986. With just a few students, the
school has grown with many Black Belts and other
students training regularly. Renshi Gregg Berlie, 5th Dan and Renshi
Jeff Burnett, 4th Dan have
trained at the school since its beginning.
Pendleton
School of Karate emphasizes philosophy as well as
a rounded knowledge of Karate. The style of
Karate taught is Shudokan. Shudokan is a
Japanese/Okinawan style or hard style of Karate.
Shihan Andy
Rodda came to Pendleton in the fall of 1985 from
Yakima, Washington. He started DoShinKan Karate
under the direction of Shihan Morris Mack in
1978. In 1987, the American
Shudokan Association was formed by
Shihan Walter Todd and Shihan Morris Mack.
DoShinKan Karate is a direct off-shoot of
Shudokan Karate-Do.
In 1995
Shihan Andy Rodda left the American Shudokan
Association to train with Shihan Ron Reed (7th
Dan) and Hanshi Alexander Archie (9th Dan). Together they have
formed the Northwest Shudokan Association. In
April of 2001, Hanshi Archie and Shihan Reed
promoted Shihan Rodda to 6th Dan.
